Zodiac Cards
The goal of these illustrations was to design a unique set of birthday greeting cards based on the recipient’s astrological sign. The concept for these illustrations was to dive past the surface level iconography of astrology, such as a lion for Leo and a crab for Cancer, and incorporate traits relating to the corresponding zodiac signs.

The beginning stages.
Virgo&Libra
The Virgo is often represented by a woman but also carries traits of being mysterious. Virgo is also associated with earth, so green and yellow tones were chosen to represent that aspect.
Libra ‘s symbol is the scale and Libras are all about diplomacy. To keep with the mystical vibe of the illustrations, instead of traditional scales to represent the Libra a sun and moon are being balanced instead. Yellows and blues were chosen to reflect the Libra’s element of air.
Leo&Cancer
Traditionally represented by the lion, I instead chose a black cat to fit the theme of the cards as well as capture the Leo’s main trait of independence and confidence. Reds and yellows were chosen on behalf of the Leo’s element of fire.
Caring and empathetic, I chose the expressive illustration of the hands to represent Cancer. The hands are carefully posed to invoke the symbol for Cancer and eyes and tears are also imposed in the image to represent the emotional sign. Blues and purples were chosen to make up the color palette for the water sign.
Inside & Back
Backs of the greeting cards, each card corresponds with the color palette of the signs.
Inside for Libra and Virgo. The insides are composed of a galaxy background with the constellation for the star sign on the left page and the sign with its primary traits on the right page.
Inside for Leo and Cancer. The insides are composed of a galaxy background with the constellation for the star sign on the left page and the sign with i’s primary traits on the right page.
